Great Western Observer

        At the 2002 regional conference (Space City Celebration 2002, Houston Texas), the 4 regions of SWAP, RMPA, PPA, and GPPA informally agreed to form a non-official, combined region called the Great Western Alliance.  This had been occurring for approximately 2 years prior to the conference as a means to combine conferences into a more effective venue with a greater attendance base.  As a result of this combination, the 4 regions decided to combine their newsletters into 1 single newsletter titled "The Great Western Observer".  The intent was for each region to reach more Planetaria than is in their regions. So, the first issue of "The Great Western Observer" was born.
